Mexico in the face of a wave of cyberattacks: a strategic wake-up call for cybersecurity integrators

According to Cloudflare, during the first quarter of 2025, Mexico suffered an alarming average of 59 million cyberattacks per day, totaling approximately 1,770 million intrusion attempts. This volume positions the country among the most attacked in Latin America in the midst of accelerated digitalization.

Latin America is not exempt: 30 billion threats were identified daily, marking an increase of 27% compared to the previous semester. Sectors with high transactional intensity—such as telecommunications, finance, e-commerce, government, betting, and gaming—have been the most impacted and continue to be targeted by cybercriminals.
Regional Integrator's Perspective
From the perspective of a cybersecurity integrator in the region, this scenario involves several critical axes:
Comprehensive visibility and proactive prevention
The volume and sophistication of attacks requires advanced detection and response (EDR/XDR) tools, as well as a Zero Trust architecture that secures the entire infrastructure, including networks, endpoints, APIs, and cloud workloads.
Constant training vs. phishing
With 95% of attacks initiated by phishing, strengthening awareness and training in cyber hygiene becomes a priority. Integrators must design continuous simulations and alerts to users that represent the "first line of defense".
Mitigating large-scale attacks
Against massive threats such as DDoS attacks, global filtering platforms (e.g., CDN services and scrubbing) capable of neutralizing malicious waves are required before they enter the core of the services.
Alignment with AI and automation
With the growing use of generative artificial intelligence – which is experiencing a 39% increase in investment – solutions must integrate AI not only for attack vector prediction, but also for automating responses and forensic analysis.
Local compliance and adaptability
With evolving regulations in the region, solutions must align to specific regulations (such as the LFPDPPP in Mexico) and allow traceability for audits and effective governance.

The strategic role of a cybersecurity integrator
Having an expert partner in the implementation and continuous updating of security technologies is essential today. In this context, integrators:
They design resilient architectures that evolve at the pace of attack vectors.
They orchestrate cyber defense platforms, integrating EDR/XDR, AI detection, and perimeter mitigation.
They promote education of the human factor, generating a culture of cybersecurity from all levels.
They ensure operational continuity, combining prevention, timely reaction and automated recovery.
They guarantee regulatory compliance and adaptability to new localized provisions.
In an environment where Mexico has established itself as a daily focus of millions of cyberattacks, the support of a local and regional security integrator is no longer a luxury and becomes an imperative necessity. It is not just about defending infrastructure, but about building a holistic strategy – one that encompasses technology, people and processes – capable of anticipating threats, protecting business continuity and preserving the trust of customers and authorities.
As specialized integrators, at Onistec and our partners in Latin America, we offer:
Adaptive and scalable cyber defense architectures.
Ongoing training aligned with real threats.
Automation and visibility that enable immediate responses.
Continuous improvement approach to stay one step ahead of attackers.
